Kamakhya is one of the most revered Hindu temples dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, a manifestation of Goddess Shakti. Located on the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam, it is one of the oldest and most significant centers of Tantric practices and is part of the 51 Shakti Peethas.

The temple is unique as it symbolizes the yoni (womb) of Goddess Shakti, and is associated with fertility and power. Unlike most temples, the Kamakhya Temple does not house an idol; instead, worship is offered to a natural underground spring flowing over a rock formation that represents the goddess.

The annual Ambubachi Mela, held in June, is a major festival associated with the temple, celebrating the goddess’s annual menstruation cycle. This festival draws thousands of devotees, Tantric practitioners, and tourists from around the world.
