Char Dham refers to four sacred pilgrimage sites in India, highly revered in Hinduism. Located in the Indian Himalayas, these shrines are collectively known as the Char Dham of Uttarakhand, or the Chota Char Dham. They are:

  1. Badrinath (Uttarakhand): Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Badrinath Temple is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River. Surrounded by the majestic Nar and Narayana mountain ranges, it is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India.
  2. Kedarnath (Uttarakhand): This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located near the Mandakini River, surrounded by snow-clad peaks. It is part of both the Char Dham and the Panch Kedar pilgrimages.
  3. Gangotri (Uttarakhand): Dedicated to Goddess Ganga, the Gangotri Temple marks the origin of the holy Ganges River. It is nestled amidst the Himalayan peaks and holds immense spiritual significance.
  4. Yamunotri (Uttarakhand): The temple here is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and is the source of the Yamuna River. It is the starting point of the Char Dham pilgrimage and is surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

The Char Dham pilgrimage is considered a journey of spiritual rejuvenation and salvation, attracting millions of devotees each year.
